Easter pizza

All right, I admit I had pizza today. But before you laugh at me, listen to my reasoning. I have a terrific argument. And it's all based on sound science.

Here's the news. Tocotrienols, which are a form of vitamin E, can reverse clogged arteries, which are a major problem in the United Stated. Clogged arteries can lead to heart attacks and strokes. So you definitely want to unclog you arteries, if you can! But before now, unfortunately, there were no pharmaceutical drugs that could do that. Put more simply, modern medicine -- despite all its marvels and wonderful abilities -- could not do the one thing that is needed to prevent heart attack and stroke. It could not unclog arteries.

But new research from Malaysia reveals that a classical and traditional fool -- palm oil -- has the potential to do what modern medicine can't, namely unclog arteries. Here's how it works. Palm oil contains tocotrienols. Virtually no other food does. Certainly no food that is typically consumed in the U.S. contains this wonderful vitamin. And Malaysian scientists have concentrated the tocotrienols (a form of vitamin E) from palm oil. And you can now obtain it as a supplement. I take it twice a day.

And now I can eat pizza. (At least occasionally.) Without worrying that I'm going to be killing myself. Thank heavens for tocotrienols.

So I've been taking these diet pills. They contain a lot of vitamins, but I'm not really sure how they work. Actually they haven't worked. Anyway, my husband picked up the bottle last night and said, "What are you taking this for?" I could hear the disdain in his voice.

"They're good," I said, defending a product I didn't even understand. But every time he tells me something in that voice of his, I get very stubborn and I don't want to change.

So he came over to where I was sitting with the baby and he was holding a little green bottle in his hand, and he said, "Do you see this?" I didn't say anything because I was in no mood to hear about anything new. He shook the bottle in front of my eyes so I had no choice but to look. "This is Fucoxanthin. I found it yesterday at LifeThyme Market in New York. It's the latest discovery in weight loss. And I'm going to use it! This is what you should be taking."

"No," I said, stubborn to the end. "I'm not."

"You don't know what you're missing," he said, putting the bottle back in the refrigerator. "This Fucoxanthin is made from Japanese seaweed and it--"

"Yuck," I said. "I don't like to eat seaweed."

"You don't taste it," he said. "Besides, this is a product that works. I mean really works. They just had an article in Life Extension about it. They don't cover anything that's worthless, only stuff that has proven studies behind it. This Fucoxanthin--"

"I don't want to hear about it."

"This Fucoxanthin -- will you listen to me! -- can do spot reduction!" He was beaming as if he had discovered gold. "Do you understand what that means? Remember I told you spot reduction isn't possible a few weeks ago? Well, I was stunned to find out that this product can do it. It speeds up the action of the mitochondria and--"

"I'm not interested in mitochon-- whatever."

"That's why you're not losing weight. Because you're taking junk, worthless junk. This stuff works. I'm going to tell my father about it. I'm going to use it to lose a hundred pounds."

Now he takes it every day. But I don't. I'm not going to give him the satisfaction of knowing he changed my mind. But maybe I will read that article.
