Melatonin Magic

The uses of melatonin are rather narrow. The drug is actually a hormone that is secreted by the pineal gland in the brain. Adoption of a melatonin schedule of pills has been reported anecdotally to me by an 82-year-old who has reportedly used it for the past 20 years. He reports it facilitates falling asleep. There appear to be no side effects from the drug. The liver excretes melatonin in a four-hour cycle. If taken at midnight it is gone from the body by four a.m., which is why some prefer time-release melatonin, which will keep an individual sedated and asleep longer during the night. But for those who simply need a little help falling asleep, melatonin in a straight dose works wonders. It is Morpheus in a capsule. Morpheus, god of sleep! Fear not that man will ever lose respect for your powers. Melatonin is your cousin, not your enemy. Together you work to keep man rested and ready to face the next day.
