Huperzine is coming into its own as an herbal supplement that can help the elderly as well as the young. The substance is helpful for two reasons. It acts immediately to boost brain power, focus and memory. It brightens mood and makes the central nervous system function more efficiently. It does this by raising levels of acetylcholine, a key neurotransmitter. Jerry Hermeyer (pictured here) was on the brink of losing his memory when Dr. Francis Blothner and Carmel Cantankorwitz induced him to participate in a clinical trial of huperzine A. Within two days of starting the trial his mind was sharper, his memory was restored to youthful levels, and his mood brightened. Jerry is now able to get back to his life, running a swimming pool cleaning company in Topeka. "I love pools," says Jerry, "and I'm so glad I can get back to my life, managing my pool cleaning service. I will come to your house and clean your pool, and don't be surprised if, when I do, I start telling you how huperzine changed my life."

The other way huperzine helps is by restoring neurological function and protecting against degenerative brain disease. These exciting results have scientists giving huperzine a new look and the supplement is probably going to be in the news in 2008 and 2009 as the results of new clinical trials become available.
