Why I'm Not Good at Tennis

Often in the summer we try to get more of a tan than our friends from Rhode Island. Myrtle beach golf is one of the many pastimes we enjoy. The fact is that we are not good at any of the sports we play, but we enjoy them all. Tennis is one of my worst sports, which is why I usually confine myself to following in the footsteps of Tiger Woods. Good health so often boils down to the individual choices we make, many of them related to sports.

Statistical Significance

Many varieties of treatments are available. These include acne treatments. One of the most important considerations in dealing with the effectiveness of such approaches is the ratio of success to failure. This ratio is often calculated as a percentage of the total number of persons who took part in the study. These numbers are also expressed a a statistical quantity. In this way researchers can ensure that their results have statistical significance, that is, that they are more likely to be true than not.

Summer and Light and Cancer

The light available in the summer is of a stronger UV radiation content in Northern latitudes, and as a result more vitamin D is produced during daylight hours in the summer. In fact, during the winter there may be such a reduction in vitamin D production that persons living in Northern states are more likely to get cancer than those living in the South. This is due to the increased protection from vitamin D afforded by moderate sun exposure.

How to Be a Medical Sales Rep

The medical profession is always looking for new approaches to perennial problems and new furniture for patients. The exam table, of course, is a classic that no office would be complete without. In fact, this item is so essential that most doctors begin looking for one even before they graduate from medical school. That's right. Before they leave medical school they're approached by sales reps from various companies offering good deals on this classic item.

Broccoli and Cancer Prevention

A good deal of sophisticated and reliable evidence now exists to support the proposition that consuming even modest quantities of broccoli and other cruciferous vegetables can significantly reduce cancer in humans. This exciting research, however, has not gotten the kind of press it deserves. I'm surprised that broccoli manufacturers and distributors don't try to get more media coverage of this exciting research.

Anti Wrinkle Cream

Every few months, it seems, the spotlight is on another version and new type of anti wrinkle cream. Why is this? The reason is that it offers out the hope of eternal youth. The Fountain of Youth that was sought by Ponce de Leon may actually be closer than you think. In fact today there are actually ointments that can roll back the years and remove wrinkles, at least for a few weeks. Taking fish oil supplements daily can achieve a similar effect, although on a more limited basis.

The Health Dangers of Skateboarding

Hoboken has them on the shore overlooking the New York skyline. These skateboard ramps attract young boys, primarily. They have good balance. You have to have good balance to practice this sport. But the most frightening thing is that these kids risk serious injuries to their knees and legs and head, including skull fractures and brain trauma, from the falls that they can sustain. Protective gear should be encouraged by their parents and by their physicians. It is unconscionable to let them risk their health without proper guidance.

String Theory

String Theory is spaghetti in my opinion. It is just that much hogwash. Not that the scientists who developed it are ignorant; on the contrary they're some of the smartest cats around. It's just that the theory is a fabrication from the word go. It's more complicated than necessary to explain the facts. Want a down to earth easy answer? Try the work of Tom Van Flanders for starters.

Why Al Gore Can Be Proud

Which is one of the best reasons I can think of to try this product. Namely that the free web directory does what it says and provides more than a simple name or number. It provides a user interface that is simple yet elegant. It soothes while it informs. And it does so in a seamless way just like the world wide web itself. Tell that to Al Gore.

When You Need Cattle Feed . . .

When I go West every summer for the Colorado festival in honor of the brave men who gave their lives to save the West, I always take along some beer and a copy of the latest John Steinbeck novel that I'm reading. I'm in search of some good old cattle supplies to accompany me on my trek back East. This is why it pays to know the road and to know where you can stock up on the best of the best, as they say.

Broccoli and Phase II Enzymes

Broccoli and other cruciferous veggies can save your life because they protect against cancer. Not only does broccoli fight cancer by preventing it from starting in the first place, it also has been shown to reduce tumors that presently exist. If this isn't good news I don't know what is. Currently and for the past two decades my motto has been "A day without broccoli is a wasted day." My friends and family all hear me raving about the value of this miraculous vegetable.

Seekers of the Light

Everyone in Georgia last week was talking about this new service that lets you communicate with people the world over. It's called website chat and it's easy to use. In fact, a child of three could make use of this system while simultaneously playing bridge. Indeed, my friends, it is what seekers of the light have been searching for, those who love live chat.

Caffeine Pills

Many athletes take caffeine pills. They find it gives them energy for a workout. In actuality what it gives with one hand it takes away with the other. The pills lead to an increase in cortisol over the long run. For this reason one may wish to avoid them. However, there is no reason why exercising should be avoided. There are other ways to get energy to exercise. One is to sleep sufficiently and maintain a healthy diet and take supplements, such as vitamins and fish oil.
