On a cold evening in the winter of 1997, when the snow was a foot high, I trudged out to MIT for a conference on the harmful effects of microwave radiation emitted by computers. Mind you, this was more than ten years ago, and yet the foresightful people at MIT were ahead of their time. Any electronic device, but especially netbooks and desktops, will emit harmful Electro Magnetic Field (EMF) radiation. You don't want that.

How much tea is too much? This question should be on the mind of anyone who drinks in excess of three cups a day. Yes, tea offers numerous antioxidant and anticancer benefits, but too much tea can cause you to suffer from excess caffeine. In fact, some authorities warn against any caffeine. In an effort to avoid caffeine, I have recently discovered a green tea extract that has no caffeine. I have written about it elsewhere on this blog.
I do not drive because I find it unnecessary. Living in New York City, we have plenty of taxis and other public transportation. We don't need Ferrari parts or anything like that. We walk to most places. In fact, we went for a walk today. I went to the gym early and got some sun and some aerobic and weight training done. Then we went for a long walk to Hoboken.

No health conscious person could think that they might have access to all the information available twenty years ago. But now a personalized gift might not even stop them. Because in ten more years all the knowledge of civilization will be available to you; in fact, it is almost all available to you right now. The only question is, What will you do with it?

It turns out that those who sleep better and more deeply weigh less. Mick Jagger is 5'10" and weighs 140. If that is a true statistic then he must sleep well. Otherwise, weight gain is the name of the game. So for those looking for a way to lose weight, getting more sleep may be the easy answer. Hard to believe that doing something so easy can have such a good effect. Check out that waistline in the above video.

The sun might be enough if it were in the right latitude. But pregnancy vitamins might be called for if too far north. In fact, too far north is a big problem for many who wish they were too far south instead. The fact is, as many know, today vitamin D can only be obtained if you live close to the equator. This means supplements are needed.

I have done research and come to the conclusion that the catechins in green tea are beneficial. Numerous authorities agree. The tricky part is getting your green tea without caffeine. Even decaffeinated tea contains a substantial amount of caffeine, which I don't usually like because it interferes with deep sleep architecture. But I was happy to find two brands of green tea that are available with "no caffeine" or, in other words, "caffeine free," according to their labels or marketing information. One of them, which is the one I'll try first, is GreenSelect brand. It is available from Swanson Vitamins in a formulation called Swanson Ultra EGCG.
- GreenSelect is also available from VitaCost: http://www.vitacost.com/NSI-GreenSelect-Green-Tea-Extract
- Altern Med Rev. 2009 June 14 (2) : 154-60. Greenselect Phytosome as an adjunct to a low-calorie diet for treatment of obesity: a clinical trial. Di Pierro F, Menghi AB, Barreca A, Lucarelli M, Calandrelli A.
